On 16th May 2017, Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs officially designated Taisha ryu Kempo (Hyoho Taisha ryu/兵法タイ捨流) as “Japan Heritage”.

According to the Agency, “Heritage is a connection to our past: a legacy of our cultural and natural history, and an invaluable source of inspiration to pass on to future generations. The Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Japan Heritage aims to promote our unique cultural traditions, encourage use of our national cultural properties, and to revitalize regional economies.” (referred from http://www.bunka.go.jp/seisaku/bunkazai/nihon_isan/pdf/nihon_isan_pamphlet_english.pdf, page 2).

Visibility of Kobudo – Japanese traditional martial arts is not very high in modern society of Japan. However, steady works and activities of traditional martial artists have been bearing fruit, and enhancing its awareness.
