On 21st May (Sunday), the 48th Sword Master “Kurando Marume” award Kendo tournament for young swordsmen (第48回 剣豪「丸目蔵人」顕彰 少年剣道選手権大会) was held in Nishikimachi-town, Kumamoto, Japan. 444 boys and girls joined the tournament and the 15th Soke (head of the style) Master Uehara, the head of Dojo Master Yamamoto, and a Monjin member of Hyoho Taisha ryu Dojo Yatsushiro Ryu-sen-kan (兵法タイ捨流道場八代龍泉館) demonstrated their traditional skills in front of the young swordsmen.
The founder of Master Kurando Marume was born in 1540, Yatsushiro-city area, Kumamoto. This ryuha has over 470 years history and his blood line is unbroken The 13th family head of Marume who lives in Nishikimachi-town was invited to the tournament as a honorable guest and speech for the young swordsmen.
Taisha ryu has been officially designated as“Japan Heritage”(日本遺産) on 15 May 2017, and it was the first official Embu demonstration after the designation.
