On 7 November 2015, the 29th Tsuruoka Hachiman-gu Japanese traditional marital arts demonstration (第二十九回鶴岡八幡宮古武道大会) was held at Kenshu Dojo (martial arts training gym) of Tsuruoka Hachiman-gu shrine, Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan.
The demonstration was organized by Kamakura Iai-do Association (鎌倉居合道協会) and supported by Tsuruoka Hachima-gu shrine. Approximately 170 attendees from 23 Dojo (groups) demonstrated their skills for dedication of the god, namely Iai-do, Kendo, Aikido, Jo-jutsu (Japanese stick fighting skills), as well as some Japanese traditional swordsmanship styles, including Hyoho Taisha ryu (兵法タイ捨流).
The shrine enshrines a Japanese ancient and war god, Hachiman (or Yawata, 八幡). The Dojo was established mainly for the purpose of train young generation, and it is usually utilized for training of Kendo, Judo, Aikido and Kyu-do (Japanese archery) for young to elder generations.
