On 18 October 2015 (Sunday), members of Unko-ryu (雲弘流), Hyoho Taisha ryu Dojo Yatsushiro Ryu-sen-kan (兵法タイ捨流道場八代龍泉館), Hontai Youshin-ryu Jujutsu/Yoshin-ryu Hanbo-jutsu (本體楊心流柔術・楊心流半棒術) demonstrated their skill for dedication of the god in Izumi Jinja (出水神社), Kumamoto, Japan.
Only 2 or 3 ryuha are selected from Dojos registered with Kumamoto Kobudo-Kai (Kumamoto traditional martial arts association) each time for the regular demonstration. Therefore, even masters and instructors in the area rarely have opportunity to demonstrate their skills at this event, possibly only once in several years or decades.
Izumi Jinja is a historic shrine which enshrines Hosokawa clan (feudal warlord). This embu demonstration was held as a part of events for a regular autumn festival of the shine, held between 18 to 20 October. Various other demonstrations, including Yabusame - Japanese archery on horseback (流鏑馬) and Japanese tea ceremony for dedication of the god (献茶式) were also held during the festival.
