As previously announced, various Kobudo or Koryu (traditional style Japanese martial arts) ryuha from all over Japan got together at Kashima Jingu and demonstrated their skills on 26th October 2014.

Kashima Jingu enshrines the ancient Japanese martial arts god Takemikazuchi-no-Okami - the shrine is located in Kashija-city, one of the places where you can see the first sunrise of a day on the main island of Japan.
This Hono embu (demonstration for dedication of the god) event is held once a year and provides a rare opportunity for the public to see real traditional skills of 34 Kobudo and Koryu ryuha in one day.
The event was also an excellent opportunity to deepen exchanges between various ryuha, which encourage them to improve their skills, as well as uniting them together to preserve the traditions and pass them on to future generations.
Below photos and information were sourced from a Facebook page of Hyoho Taisha-ryu Kenjutsu, one of the participants of this event, translated and edited by the editorial team of Watch Modern Day Samurai Moves Online.
