Members of Hyoho Taisha-ryu Dojo Yatsushiro Ryusen-kan participated in various events in Oct 2014.They demonstrated Taisha-ryu skills and techniques in front of audiences at:
(1) Kumamoto castle - 熊本城武道の祭典 (Kumamoto castle Budo festival) on 11th Oct
(2) Yasukuni shrine in Tokyo – 靖国神社奉納演武 (demonstration for dedication of the god at Yasukuni) on 12th Oct
(3) Honmyo-ji temple in Kumamoto – 寺フェス３(the 3rd Temple festival at Homyo-ji) on 19th Oct
Members of the Taisha-ryu, take their practice very seriously - when young Tanaka-san who was part of the embu (demonstration) at the Yasukuni Shrine said to one of the shihandai after the embu that he felt that he did not demonstrate the kata well - the shihandai said only:"Train more and harder rather than bemoan any lack of skill and experience".
Although many parts of traditional Japanese culture are gradually being forgotten, there still exists extant schools of Kobudo (traditional martial arts) that have kept alive the original teachings and have passed them down to the current generation who in turn intend do the same.
